Goodnight Moon Cookies

My try at decorating cookies with royal icing. Only my 2nd time. I was only requested to do some simple moon cookies but I didn't have a simple cookie cutter in the shape of a moon and the ones I found were small. So I did my own with a daisy cookie cutter.

Frosted Sugar Cookies

My sister requested frosted sugar cookies in addition to a cake for a birthday party she is going to today.  I must thank her because it allowed me the opportunity to use a recipe from Annie's Eats (http://annies-eats.net/2011/07/18/soft-frosted-sugar-cookies/)  The frosting is thinner than the frosted cookies you find at the grocery store but it is perfect.  You don't need a lot of frosting for this cookie so it's a great pairing.

I doubled the batch from the recipe and almost had enough frosting from the single batch listed on the recipe.  I only had to make a tiny bit extra.  I ended up getting roughing 60 cookies by doubling the recipe.  My sister wanted 4 dozen and I took the remaining in to work for my good friend's birthday.  I went with yellow for the frosting because it's been rather gloomy this past week with rain and I figured yellow would remind everyone of sunshine!  Silly I know but I wanted to use a color that would cheer people up!

Soft Ginger Cookies

So yesterday was my Dad's Birthday!!  We've been celebrating all weekend on a mini vacation.  So as part of my Dad's gift I made him Soft Ginger Cookies.  They are DELISH!  I think they have the best flavor and their soft goodness makes you want to eat even more than you really should.  But here they are!

It's taken me a few batches to finally remember when to take these puppies out of the oven.  They need to have minor cracks in the dough from baking.

If there are too many cracks in the dough, then they won't be as soft as they should.  Mmmmm... these photos make me wish I had more.

A close up.  Here you can't really see the cracks because of the flash on my camera but you can see all the sugary goodness coating the outside!  Yum!

Decorated Sugar Cookies

I made 4 dozen decorated sugar cookies using royal icing.  The theme for the shower was blue so I did 2 shades of blue on the cookies.

I used the following cookie cutters: rattle, buggy, bottle, umbrella, pacifier and letters to spell out "Baby".

The cookies were a big hit and my sister-in-law said there were all gone by the end of the party!!  So glad they were such a big hit!
